LOCH SHELDRAKE –– The Ulster Senators took a visit to the Sullivan Generals in a rescheduled Men’s Basketball game for a conference matchup. Both teams were looking to get into the win column as both teams have gotten off to slow starts this year. The Generals were seeking their first win of the season coming in winless (0-8). The Senators were (2-9) heading into this matchup.

The action got underway seeing local Monticello graduate Christan Brown get the start for the Generals. The Men’s General basketball roster this season has eight local high school student athletes on their team. The roster consists of players from Monticello, Fallsburg, Tri-Valley, and Liberty. This contest saw 3 local products get playing time.

The home Generals would grab the lead early in this game and get off to a good start with an 18-13 lead over Ulster. Heading into the half Ulster would have a slight advantage over the Generals with a score of 37-31. Both teams played physical. Generals Coach Rick urged his team to continue to be aggressive on boxing out for rebounds.

The visiting Senators started off the second half with a run, extending their lead to 10 points. In response to the fast start by Ulster, Sulivan looked to slow their momentum with a timeout to regroup.

The Generals would respond following their timeout with two consecutive buckets to keep the game close. Late in the game the Generals would grab the lead 64-59 and hold on for good. The Generals would come through in crunch time with key baskets and stops to hold off the Senators with a 77-71 victory. The Generals improve to 1-8 overall. Ulster drops to 2-10.
