SUNY Sullivan offers opportunities for Sullivan County Residents

LOCH SHELDRAKE — SUNY Sullivan is hosting Discover SUNY Sullivan Day on Saturday, August 27. from 10 am–1 pm. The event invites prospective students to learn more about the College’s programs, tour the campus, gain instant acceptance for fall classes, and create a schedule with an advisor. Enrollment and financial aid specialists will be on hand to discuss the admission process and the College’s many financial aid opportunities, including the new Sullivan Promise Scholarship, which offers eligible Sullivan County residents who earned a high school diploma or GED in 2022 the opportunity to receive FREE tuition and fees at SUNY Sullivan.

Discover SUNY Sullivan Day offers prospective students the opportunity to see firsthand what makes SUNY Sullivan such a great place to learn. In addition to welcoming remarks from SUNY Sullivan President Jay Quaintance, Discover SUNY Sullivan Day offers prospective students guided tours of the College’s scenic and sustainable campus, including its high-quality athletics facilities and residence hall. Attendees can fill out a free application on site, and students who bring a transcript can earn instance acceptance.

“We are excited to offer the new Promise Scholarship in partnership with Sullivan County this year. The new scholarship makes higher education accessible to all 2022 Sullivan County residents who have earned a diploma or GED in 2022,” said SUNY Sullivan Director of Recruiting & Admissions Christina Buckler. “A four-year college can cost a student over $23,000 per semester in tuition, fees, room, and board alone. Students who take advantage of the Promise Scholarship could save over $46,000 annually by staying local and attending SUNY Sullivan while receiving the same high-quality education and earning credits that are easily transferrable to four-year colleges in the SUNY system.”

Buckler said that all of the four key steps to enrolling at SUNY Sullivan—completing the admission application, submitting a transcript, applying for financial aid, and registering for courses with an advisor—can be completed at Discover SUNY Sullivan Day.

For students who do not qualify for the Sullivan Promise Scholarship, the college can assist with other financial aid awards. SUNY Sullivan has on-site child care in partnership with Healthy Kids, a food pantry, and offers free tutoring and counseling services to all enrolled students.

Registration for Discover SUNY Sullivan Day is required.
