JEFFERSONVILLE – The Turtle Trot 5 and 10k races have returned to Jeffersonville this Saturday! 

Honoring the race director’s father who passed away due to pancreatic cancer and her cousin, Brenna Darling, the race is a welcomed yearly event bringing the community together for a great cause.

Beginning in Kenoza Lake, runners were challenged with winding paths and hills as they raced through the hills of Sullivan County and invited competitors to appreciate the beauty of the countryside. 

The Turtle Trot is part of the Orange Runners “King and Queen of the Mountains series,” a participation series in which runners must complete all six races to receive recognition and an award. 

Saturday’s Turtle Trot was also one of 14 races needed to qualify for the Iron Runner Award, an award given to all runners who complete all 14 races named by Orange Runners.

Races like Saturday’s offer a variety of distances and difficulty levels used to challenge runners to both change and adapt their running styles.    

Proceeds from Saturday’s race were donated to benefit families struck with catastrophic illnesses.
