Liberty

To the editor:

I am writing in regard to your article about the Liberty Town Board budget. Vince and Brian McPhillips were outraged by the $41,000 position that was slipped in at the last minute and how it was done. They had no knowledge of it.

I was at the Town Board meeting and saw what happened, I am not a big political person and I don’t begrudge anyone making a good salary but it seems to me that the public should look seriously at how elected officials can vote themselves raises and create positions without all members of the Board included. Liberty is not the booming town of the past and families that have sustained our town for generations  are being overlooked and can’t afford to stay here. We have serious problems here and we need serious people to solve them.

Thank you to Brian and Vince [McPhillips] for standing up for what’s right. Congratulations to Brian on his election as legislator, we are very sorry to lose his voice at the town level but I know he will continue to work hard for us.
