SULLIVAN COUNTY — Week 6 offered a handful of great matchups, including Liberty’s first win as the RedHawks. Sullivan West stayed undefeated despite a strong first half effort by Eldred. Tri-Valley ran into an undefeated team for the second week in a row and Fallsburg had a week off after a forfeit victory over Livingston Manor/Roscoe.

As the regular season comes to a close this weekend, here’s what you might expect from this weekend.

Friday Night Lights

Onteora at Eldred, 7 p.m.

Eldred has had an up and down season, but has a chance to get their record back to .500 tonight as they take on Onteora at home. Eldred started their season with a big shutout victory over Millbrook before losing to Fallsburg and Tri-Valley. A forfeit victory over Livingston Manor/Roscoe brought them back to .500 before a loss to Sullivan West dropped them to 2-3.

Eldred came out swinging against Sullivan West on the road, scoring 22 first half points in the loss, and will look to get their momentum going early tonight.

Tri-Valley at Ellenville, 7 p.m.

The defending Section 9 8-man champs have had a rough two weeks after starting their season 2-2. Losses to Pine Plains and Fallsburg started their season on the wrong foot before wins against LM and Eldred brought them back to .500. After that, the Bears hosted the undefeated Sullivan West and Pawling squads, getting outscored 62-0 in the two games. Tri-Valley still finished with a 2-2 division record and will look to get to 3-4 overall this weekend as they make a bid to sneak into playoffs.

Ellenville opened their season with three straight losses before three straight wins got them back to .500. This game will be the deciding factor for the Blue Devils to finish above .500 overall after swapping to 8-man Division 2.

Sullivan West at Pawling, 7 p.m.

This game is going to be a true clash of the titans. Two undefeated squads, sitting at 6-0 overall at the top of their respective divisions, are set for a regular season finale that will determine the first and second seeds for the upcoming playoffs.

These two heavy-hitters have exchanged wins over the past few years, with the most recent win going in favor of the Tigers. The Bulldogs will look to travel home from Dutchess County tonight with an unblemished 7-0 record, but the Tigers will definitely won’t go down easy.

Saturday Showcase

Rondout Valley at Livingston Manor/Roscoe

The Wildcats’ reintroduction to the football scene hardly went as planned. Low numbers have plagued the team since pre-season workouts, and having to forfeit nearly all of their contests except for their lone game against Tri-Valley is evidence of that. Hopefully Livingston Manor and Roscoe can get their numbers up for next year, but for now the team is just practicing skills and conditioning.

Beacon at Liberty, 1 p.m.

The RedHawks earned their first victory of the year last weekend as they visited New Paltz, 17-13. Beacon and Liberty have the same record and the winner can sneak into a 3-seed for Class A Sectionals. Beacon’s only win was also against New Paltz, and now the two 1-6 teams will square off to earn the opportunity to play another game.

Valley Central at Monticello, 1 p.m.

Monticello had a rough game against Goshen as they dropped their fourth straight game, losing 35-0. This weekend, they’ll take on the 1-5 Valley Central team that has given up 219 points over their first six games. Both of these two teams would love to get a win tomorrow, but hopefully the Panthers can take down the Vikings for a confidence boost before their final regular season game.
