WSPL Spreads JOY By Creating Over 400 Holiday Cards!!

Posted

SULLIVAN COUNTY – The Western Sullivan Public Library would like to thank their patrons, the Kindness and Compassion Club (The KC Club) at the Sullivan West Central School District and their library staff for participating in the second annual “Holiday Card Shower”.

With the support of an outreach grant from the Ramapo Catskill Library System, WSPL was able to increase their goal of making sure that ALL Nursing Home and Adult Care Center residents throughout the county receive holiday cards. Therefore,  in addition to The Sullivan County Adult Care Center at Sunset Lake and Achieve Rehab Nursing Facility,  holiday cards were created for two other facilities: Roscoe Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Jeffersonville Senior Living Home.  What that means is that a total of over 400 cards were created!!!

Once again, a very special thank you to the KC Club. The KC Club is a club for students grades four through six.  The premise of the club is to spread kindness and compassion throughout the school and community.  The club is a result of Rachel's Challenge.  Rachel was one of the first girls killed in Columbine.  Her parents wanted to honor her memory by creating a program inspired by Rachel and her idea that kindness is a chain reaction.  The students in the club work together to do good things for the community and school.

Happy Holidays from your library, The Western Sullivan Public Library!!!
