MONGAUP VALLEY –

The first game Monday night at Collins Field was a close-fought, high-scoring, and entertaining game. Charlie’s Angels defeated L & B Tack 24 to 22.

The Fireworks started with the very first at bat with Maggie Fitzpatrick of the Angels making it all the way around the bases to score a home run. Even with that spectacular play, the L & B squad was able to keep the Angels bats in check for most of the game with fine defensive plays by Liz Stubitz in the outfield. Steady infield play by Zaylee Cox recorded several clean outs. L & B’s offense was very consistent also, moving runners over and getting them across home plate.

It was The Angels’ huge third inning that was the difference maker. They were able to score 13 runs in the inning. They only scored one run in innings 2, 4, and 5, combined. There were a couple of close calls (at third base in particular) that could have gone either way, that perhaps rattled L & B’s defense. The Angels, on the other hand, were able to stay focused and not get distracted on their path to victory.

Top offensive performers for L & B were Tini Kaiser with 3 hits and 3 RBI’s and Liz Stubitz, who had 4 hits and 3 RBI’s. For Charlie’s Angel,s it was Maggie Fitzpatrick with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s and Kelsey Shamro with 4 RBI’s and 3 hits.
