Bat Girls return to Collins to finish the job

MONGAUP VALLEY – The Bat Girls returned to Collins Field last week to finish what they started. With a 10–0 lead already on the board from a rain-delay weeks earlier, they picked up right where they left off and rolled to an 18–3 win over Charlie’s Angels.

“With all the rain, we were slipping and sliding in the mud,” said Charlie’s Angels pitcher Jo Walls. “So we had to postpone to today. The field was all messed up.”

Charlie’s Angels looked to close the gap in the fourth with hits from Maggi Fitzpatrick and Katy Decker, but the Bat Girls’ defense stayed sharp. They turned a double play off a hit from Lacey VanLeuven to close the top of the inning.

On offense, the Bat Girls stayed aggressive. Nicole Kothe singled to right, followed by a hit from Kat Kehlenbeck. Britt followed with a clean base hit, continuing the momentum.

In the bottom of the fourth, Nicole Beach and Amanda Feeney each reached base but were tagged out at second. In the fifth, Sam Cohn made it to third, and catcher Jordan Carmody drove her in with an RBI before scoring herself.

The Bat Girls added eight runs after the game resumed, sealing a commanding 18–3 victory.

“We hit together, play together, we win and lose together,” said shortstop Alaina Gaughan.
