Gerald “Jerry” Davitt is completing his 50th year as an elected Commissioner of the Youngsville Fire District, and recently decided not to run for re-election. The Board of Fire Commissioners presented Jerry with a plaque recognizing his “many years of devoted service” at their last meeting on December 8. Pictured above from left are Commissioners William “Bill” Norris, Lee Ellmauer Sr., Joe Kavleski (Chairman), Gerald “Jerry” Davitt and Ryan Bose. Michelle Lupardo who is the secretary/treasurer of the Fire District, is not pictured. Davitt is also pictured behind the wheel of the YFD’s first engine/pumper, a 1933 Sanford, that was purchased new by the Fire District and just recently refurbished by some of the members with “much help and guidance” from George Creegan whose son Ben is a member of the department.
