MONTICELLO –– The Sullivan County Legislature, after hearing presentations and reviewing applications, recently awarded discretionary funding to several local not-for-profits.

According to the County’s website, the purpose of the Legislative contract application process is to identify local entities, including community and not-for-profit organizations throughout Sullivan County, that have specific needs or Countywide significance by tying applications to identified County and municipal goals. Applicants must be a not-for-profit agency or civic organization operating within Sullivan County that is not part of County government.

A total of $308,380 was recently awarded to the following applicants: Hospice of Orange and Sullivan ($20,000); Delaware Valley Arts Alliance ($40,000); Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce ($17,500); Upper Delaware Scenic Byway ($25,000); Sullivan County Head Start, Inc. ($70,000); Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs of Sullivan County ($20,000); Literacy Volunteers of Sullivan County ($5,000); Town of Wallkill Boys and Girls Club ($8,000); United Way of Sullivan County ($15,000);

People in Mind of NY ($10,000); The Delaware Company ($25,000); Sullivan County Public Library Alliance ($5,000); Nesin Cultural Arts ($8,000); Delaware Highland Conservancy ($5,000); Action Toward Independence ($30,000); and Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corp. ($4,880).
