L & B Tack wins big over Fosterdale Equipment

MONGAUP VALLEY –– The first game Wednesday evening at Collins field was a high scoring affair with L & B Tack pounding out 29 runs to grab a win over Fosterdale Equipment. Fosterdale was able  to score 11 runs, which on another night may have kept them in the game, but not on this night, not against L & B.

L & B combined good at-bats with aggressive baserunning to power their offense. They got 4 triples by virtue of hustling around the bases and challenging the arms of the Fosterdale outfield. Two of those triples were hit by Crystal Torres, who slammed one off the wall in the third, almost sending it out of the park.

Fosterdale would have liked to get a second chance at some of those ground balls that made it to the outfield, that would have slowed down the L & B’s baserunners.

The offensive stars for L & B were Jenna Merton, who had a home run and 7 RBI’s, and Tricia Tuttle, who had 5 RBI’s to go with her 5 hits. In the field Maria Jeltsch shined, making a fine running catch in short center in the second inning.

Kayla Connolly was the offense for the Fosterdale club. She started off the game in a big way by hitting a grand slam in the first, but unfortunately for Fosterdale, that was the only inning that they were able to score in bunches. The runs were hard to come by for them, the rest of the game. Kayla finished the night with 3 hits and 8 RBI’s, a great effort for Fosterdale despite their loss.
