Liberty Museum to hold Auction from the Jackie “Dirty Dancing” Horner Estate

Posted

LIBERTY - On Saturday, August 21 at 2 p.m., the Liberty Museum & Arts Center will be holding the first of three auctions of memorabilia and personal effects from the estate of Jackie Horner, the celebrity dancer who was the inspiration for the movie Dirty Dancing. Horner, who died last year at 87, performed and taught dance at the iconic Grossinger’s Resort for over thirty years. She hobnobbed with the biggest stars of the era, the Golden Age of the Catskills.

This auction is a once in a lifetime opportunity to bring home a piece of Catskill history. Some of Horner’s personal effects will include a pair of her dancing shoes and one of her formal gowns.  Admission to the auction is free and is part of the Museum’s 25th anniversary celebration. (The next two auctions will not be held until 2022.) The auction coincides with the opening reception  of the Museum's latest exhibition, the figurative paintings of internatioinally renowned Tony Canger.  The doors will open at 12 noon.

The Museum is located at 46 South Main Street in Liberty. For more information, visit the Museum’s website at www.libertymuseum.com or call (845) 807-6725 or (845) 292-2394.
