LAKE HUNTINGTON – The Sullivan West Bulldogs were firing on all cylinders on Friday night as they raced to a 30-0 halftime lead enroute to a 44-0 win over visiting Livingston Manor-Roscoe in a Divisional matchup.

The big win sets up a showdown this Friday with 8-Man Divisional rival Tri-Valley, as both teams are 5-1 overall, 4-0 in Divison play.

The home team wasted little time in flexing their muscle, holding Roscoe to a three and out on the opening drive and then scoring on the first offensive play of the game as Rally Cruz raced up the middle for 50 yards and the score.

The stingy Bulldog defense shut down Roscoe again and got the ball back near midfield. This time it was a 20-yard run by quarterback Jaymes Buddenhagen down to the 17 that set up an Andrew Hubert touchdown and a 12-0 lead. A two-point conversion by Nate Coy put Sullivan West up 14-0 midway through the first quarter.

Roscoe, who only suited 12 players, has been plagued by injuries, especially to some key players, including quarterback Aiden Johnston.

“It’s unfortunate,” Sullivan West Coach Justin Diehl said about Roscoe’s sidelined stars. “Roscoe certainly had a lot of injury issues they had to deal with.”

But that did not stop the Roscoe Blue Devils from hitting hard and using some unique offensive sets to try and get the Bulldogs off stride. On its third possession the Blue Devils drove deep into Bulldog territory before giving up the ball on downs.

With 4:21 left in the half Max Ebert scored a TD and added the two-point conversion to put the Bulldogs ahead 22-0.

The home team would get the ball back one more time before the half and Buddenhagen again scampered around the end on a 30-yard run down to the 5 yard line.

It was time for something new for Sullivan West and they put big No. 64 in the backfield and handed the ball to Dylan Hanslmaier, who rumbled in for the score.

It was his first carry of his career and he made it count.

“Dylan has meant a lot to us on both side of the ball,” Coach Deihl said. “He deserved it [the TD carry].”

The Bulldogs would add two more scores in the second half to round out the scoring.

“Our seniors are playing great,” Diehl said. “We started the season slow but I’m happy we’ve continued to improve. It was good to get the win.”
