MONTICELLO– On Wednesday, June 24, Charlie’s Angels and Dutch’s faced off in an exciting matchup that featured big swings, clutch hits, and a late offensive surge that sealed the game.
Charlie’s Angels opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, putting up one early run before Dutch’s settled in and recorded the final outs to end the threat.
Dutch’s answered right back in the bottom half of the inning. After picking up a few early outs, they managed to bring one runner home before a deep triple cleared the bases and brought two more runners across. A follow-up single brought the runner from third home as Dutch’s took an early 4-1 lead heading into the second inning.
Charlie’s Angels quickly responded. After an early out, the Angels’ offense came alive with multiple big hits to score two runs. They continued their momentum with a series of doubles that brought two more runners home, flipping the game in their favor with a 5-4 lead.
Dutch’s was unable to answer in the bottom of the second as Charlie’s Angels shut down the inning with three quick outs.
The Angels continued their offensive push in the third inning. A double set the stage before a massive inside-the-park home run brought two more runs across the plate and extended their lead to 7-4.
Dutch’s looked for a response in the bottom of the third but were once again held scoreless as Charlie’s Angels’ defense secured three quick outs.
In the fourth inning, Charlie’s Angels started with two quick outs before their offense exploded again. A series of hits brought another runner home, and a catcher’s error advanced runners into scoring position. The next at-bat delivered a clutch double that brought both runners home before Dutch’s ended the inning.
Dutch’s showed some fight in the bottom of the fourth. After two early outs, they strung together two singles followed by a deep double that brought two runners home, marking their first scoring since the opening inning.
The fifth inning saw Dutch’s defense step up as they retired Charlie’s Angels in order, keeping the game within reach.
However, Charlie’s Angels broke the game open in the sixth inning. After an early out and a couple of singles, the Angels delivered another massive inside-the-park home run, bringing three runners home.
With the score sitting at 23-7, Dutch’s needed a big comeback in the bottom of the sixth. Instead, Charlie’s Angels quickly shut down the inning, recording the final outs and securing a 23-7 victory via mercy rule. Charlie’s Angels showcased a dominant offensive performance, combining power hitting, smart baserunning, and timely defense to take control of the game. Dutch’s battled throughout, but the Angels’ consistent attack proved too much to overcome.
