Walter Madden, Jr. of New Hope Communities and formerly Fremont Center, died peacefully on January 9, 2024 at the Garnet Health Care, Harris, New York, surrounded by loved ones.

Son of Walter Madden, Sr. and Joan McNamara Madden, born in Brooklyn, New York, February 28, 1958. He was 65 years old. Walter was a board member of New Hope Communities, and a resident of 6 Fremon Drive, Loch Sheldrake, New York.

Walter was an extraordinary, special, kind, gentle soul, who was loved by anyone who had the privilege of meeting him. His love for his family and community was unmeasurable. His world revolved around his music-anywhere from Elvis, The Beatles and Led Zepplin – just not country! The world was a kinder place with him in it.

The New York Yankees lost their biggest fan. Walter would be watching the game on TV and listen to his favorite music at the same time. It was his biggest joy.

In 2013, Walter began his new life and journey at New Hope Communities in Loch Sheldrake.  His jobs consisted of working at the Liberty Elk’s Club, M&M Ford, then to the brand new Resorts World Casino until his retirement in 2020. Previously, he was a familiar face at Lohr’s Lumber, Fremont Center, for many years. Every place Walter worked, he brought sunshine and happiness to all that met him.  Working was his biggest joy;  he was never late for work, and did not like anyone who was not on time. He had an incredible work ethic.

Walter was a member of St Francis Roman Catholic Church. His faith never wavered. He knew hymns word for word. Seeing Amazing Grace on Broadway was the thrill of his life.

He is survived by Sisters -Susan and John Busing of Damascus, PA, JoanAlice Evans of Grahamsville, NY, Kathleen Evans/Tony Savastano of Ft McCoy, Fl, Brothers – James and Angel Madden, Arcade, New York, Patrick and Mary Madden, Shippensburg, Pa., Aunt, Barbara Stang, Belford, NJ, Uncle, George Madden, Hamilton, NJ. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Walter and Joan Madden, Grandmother Mary Stang, Aunt and Uncle, Patricia and Roland Lees, and Uncle James Stang.
