WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS –– Callicoon Pantry squared off against We Care Bears last Wednesday evening at the White Sulphur Springs Fireman’s Park. The two teams put on a hitting clinic scoring a combined total of 41 runs and 59 recorded hits. We Care Bears managed to come out on top, beating Callicoon Pantry by a slim margin of 23 to 18.
The hitting prowess extended up and down the line ups of both teams with every member of each club getting on base at least once. Kaylee Wagner of Callicoon Pantry, among other players had big games that night. Wagner collected 3 singles, a double and a walk with 2 RBI. Her teammate Ashley Szuba, had 5 RBI and almost hit for the cycle, recording a single, a double and a triple.
Standouts for the We Care Bears were Jackie Maree, who had 3 hits and 3 RBI. Christa Reinshagen and Charly Yaun also had great games, each of them getting 4 hits and 2 RBI.
Callicoon Pantry had a slow start, scoring only 2 runs in the first two innings. We Care Bears scored 7 runs during those same innings creating a lead that Callicoon Pantry could not overcome.
At bat in the final inning, Callicoon Pantry looked to tie the game, but the We Care Bears’ pitching and fielding kept the Pantry at bay, earning a close victory.
