Zinnia Konviser, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023 in Baltimore, MD, at the home of her daughter Marcy Kleinman. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Abraham Konviser and Fannie Shaffer on April 7, 1932 she lived most of her youth at her parent’s hotel Fanny Shaffer’s Vegetarian Hotel in Woodridge, NY. Whenever asked about her medical history Zinnia’s proud reply would be, “I am a lifelong vegetarian.” She worked at many hotels during her working years and retired from the prison in Napanoch. In her spare time she taught classes in vegetarian cooking. After retirement she worked as a docent at Bethel Woods. Zinnia is survived by her three children, Brian Biederman (Bobbi) of Raleigh, NC; Marcy Kleinman of Catonsville, Md and Kevin Biederman (Donna) of Hollywood, Fla. She had six grandchildren, and three great-granddaughters. A private graveside service will take place at the Workman Circle #281 Cemetery, Marsh Road, Glen Wild, NY on June 9 at 2:30pm. Her son Brian will be sitting Shiva on Sunday, June 11 from 12-2PM in Woodridge, NY on the second floor of the municipal building.
