Eleanor E. Lubnewski of Smallwood, NY, died Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center at Sunset Lake in Liberty, NY.  She was 93.

The daughter of the late Stanley Scalsky and Anna Sleboda, she was born February 23, 1931, in Jessup Township, Pennsylvania.  She was married for 69 years to Joseph Lubnewski who predeceased her on October 13, 2017.

Eleanor was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Monticello and the retired assistant coordinator of their religious instruction program.

She is survived by her daughter: Joann Conroy & her husband Richard of Smallwood; a brother Edward (Dorothy) Scalsky of Virginia; a sister: Rosemarie (Rich) Remsburg of Delaware; 2 grandchildren, Christopher Conroy of Maryland and Cheryl Goetchius of Smallwood; and 2 great-grandchildren: Paige Innis and Joseph Goetchius.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son: Joseph Lubnewski; her sister: Anna Lubnewski and her brother: Stanley Scalsky.

The family will hold private calling hours.  Friends and family are invited to attend Eleanor’s funeral mass to be celebrated on Thursday, April 11 at 1:30pm at St. Peter’s Church, on Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello with Fr. Bob Porpora officiating.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel. 

Eleanor’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center at Sunset Lake for taking excellent care of Mom.
